If you want a memorable quail hunt, then Big Red Oak Plantation is definitely the place to go. The upland game hunter will experience true Southern-style quail plantation hunting with the breathtaking scenery and vibrant colors of the broom sedge, mature pines, and native grasses, which make wonderful quail habitat.

 

 

You will find a mixture of wild quail and high quality released quail with very little difference in flight pattern. A hunting party consists of one guide with at least four trained dogs and two to three hunters. The guide will pick up the hunters in the front of the lodge and proceed to one of the eight well-designed quail courses. The guide will conduct a safety briefing and the hunt will begin.

 

 

The hunters are welcome to use their own personal bird dogs, or Big Red Oak Plantation guides can provide seasoned and trained bird dogs.

 

At the end of the hunt, the hunter will have the choice to either take home their freshly harvested birds or exchange them for freshly dressed birds in freezer-ready containers from the previous day’s hunt.

All hunting bird packages require a Shooting Preserve License per hunter. A Shooting Preserve License can be purchased in advance by visiting the DNR Web-site at www.gohuntgeorgia.com or at Pro-shop during check-in. Up-land bird season begins October 1st and ends March 31st of the current year. All hunting packages offered are seasonally only. Reservations are required on all hunts, a reservation can be made by calling 706-538-6870. Hours of operations for hunts: 7 Days a week. All visitors hunting or not, must sign a Release of Liability Waiver.

Customized hunting packages are available upon request.
